You Can "Build" A Girl in Ghana!

It’s been a Busy first part of 2018! The girls…and guys ( about 70 total) have started a new venture I call the S.E.W. Project (Sowing Empowered Women) where they are not only discovering their strength within but also the “ins and outs” of designing, global marketing and making their wares; Catering (Students' Team name-"Hakunamatatah Food Joint"), Fashion & Design ("Kekeli Fashion Home"), Cosmetology ("Peace Beauty Palor"), Carpentry ("Royal Furniture") and Kente weaving ("Homemade Kente"). All with the objective to sell their items locally and abroad! More to come…but I have to say both the students and I are EXCITED!!:)

Twenty-four (24) of the girls are participating in Group and Individual counseling. I am surprised almost daily to see girls that once never smiled now laugh, make jokes and engage in my new efforts to speak Ewe with them! The road is long and sometimes emotional for them as they heal through their traumatic experiences. Please continue to keep them in your prayers!

This week I also came across this video short during my weekly catch up of news via phone. “Witness” on Al Jazeera News Channel shows what being a school-age girl in Ghana is like for many. Our girls at the Baptist Vocational Training Centre (BVTC), many of which have been rescued from the Trokosi shrines, are given second chance because of your prayers and continued support to this ministry. This film shows what their life could be like without your caring involvement to grow confident, skilled andnd healthy Christian young people with the opportunity to help support themselves and their families. Thank You!

[The crowded Makola market in the video is where I catch the “trotro”/chicken bus from Accra to Juapong (my home). It’s amazing what you can see on a regular basis but not always aware of the harsh realities☹].

Kindly, Rovaughna in Hot Ghana!

Thank you (“Akpe”) to Supporters around the globe who are choosing to make a difference! Thank you to the Ones coming “On-board!”

“I  have been praying  for  25 years  that  we would have our  own global  missionary. We will celebrate our first full-time global missionary with Rovaughna Richardson.”
